THE LEGAL TEAM

Mohammed Balala:

Mohammed'smain areas of practice are Civil and Public interest Litigation, Commercial law, Corporate, Finance law and general Conveyance Practice. Mohammed has acted and advised on a number of important matters ranging from challenges to monopolies and restrictive trade practices at the port of Mombasa, defended Tax claims from the revenue authorities as well as legal opinion and participation in major litigation for stakeholders in the oil and gas sector. He has also been engaged in a number of high profile election petitions from the High Court, Court of Appeal up to the Supreme Court of Kenya.

He is amember of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of CertifiedPublic Secretaries of Kenya and practiced for the last 18 years, having completed undergraduate studies in Law from Queensland, Australia in 1994. Mohammed is currently pursuing a post graduate degree in Oil and Gas.

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Privately, he is a trustee of the Thune Foundation, a private heritage and cultural trust focused in preservation of Lamu's historical and world heritage sites.

Mohammedhas also previously served as a Chairman of the Mombasa Law Society, which is the Coast Chapter of the Law Society of Kenya

Abed is the principal partner in charge of Litigation. He has dealt with a wide array of Litigation matters for over 10 years now. He deals mainly with Admiralty, Civil Commercial Litigation matters, Insurance, General Litigation and Public Interest Litigation.

He has undertaken public interest litigation on behalf of resident associations seeking protective rights to housing, major debt and pecuniary claims as well as arrest of vessels for a number of maritime claims. These are but a few of the areas of litigation in which Abed has participated.

Abed has also previously served as an officer of the Mombasa Law Society.

In addition to holding a degree in Law, he is also a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Abed Omar Abed:

Winifred Gitao

Winifred is a Senior member of the Kenyan Bar. A seasoned Conveyancing and Commercial lawyer, She handles Real Estate and Corporate legal issues for the firm. She holds a Masters degree in International Business Law (International Law of Trade and Developmentand International Company Law) from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom focusing on a number of areas including competition law and laws relating to mergers and acquisitions.

She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya

Winifred has practised for the last 18 years in Kenya and has sat as Company Secretary and Director of a number of companies. She has wide experience in the corporate world.

Mohamed Ali Mohamed

Mohamed is a graduate of the Kampala International University and has practiced in the litigation department of our firm in a vast number of areas including Civil Commercial matters, Corporate Litigation, Public Interest Litigation as well as Family law in both Succession and Matrimonial matters. He was also active in a number of Election Petitions arising out of the 2013 general elections in Kenya.

Khalid Salim Mohamed

Khalid is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya involved in commercial litigation and also engages in a number of successful debt collection cases.
